My Personal Pensieve
My Hair

is my biggest current #whiteboyproblem. I had a fro (literally) my sophomore year of high school and, playing water polo/swim, I somehow thought that was cool. When I finally realized how ridiculous I looked I buzzed my head, and I’ve kept it too short to curl ever since.

So the females in my life convinced me to grow it out and see what I can do with it. I haven’t cut it (except trims on the sides and back) in 3 months. It’s in an awkward length phase right now and I’ve been alternating between not “doing it” and letting it lay flat to putting product in it. Today’s a “do it” day, so my hair looks basically like Justin Timberlake curls meets Jew fro. And I’m getting a TON of mixed responses. Even my coworkers don’t agree what they prefer, and they’re brutally honest (and they’ll laugh when they read this…). Most of my Chapman friends (and especially guys) hate it and think it look ridiculous. Lots of women like it and love the curl and want me to keep doing it. Some people say it makes me look way younger… some say older. Personally, I don’t love it and I think it’s awkward… but I do like actually doing something with my hair and I think it’s getting too long to just let it lay flat. Also… this morning it looked decent, but it’s getting worse as the day goes on. When I see my friends tonight it’s bound to look like shit. And they’re all gonna laugh when I walk through that door—- embracing it now.

Ugh. Damn you curls. I hope as it grows it will de-curl…? Fat chance, I know.
